Racing for the Brunel Sailing Team

There is a strong tradition of sailing competition amongst Britain’s universities, and many of our Olympic athletes once honed their skills at the university level. As a member of Brunel Sailing Club you will have the opportunity to enter a number of race events throughout the year, ranging from inter-university BUSA events to our very own Brunel Badger, sailing in both dinghies and keelboats. These races are not only a chance to test your racing abilities against rival universities, but also a great chance to meet new people and enjoy some highly memorable socials.

Brunel Sailing Club has always prided itself in the success of its sailors in races against universities with more members and much larger budgets. We believe that its essential for the future of the club to attend as many races as possible and to keep racking up those BUSA points.

As part of the weekly training at Datchet, club members can practice racing against each other in preparation for regattas. There is also the opportunity to use Brunel Sailing’s boats for Datchet Club racing on Sundays; which is a great chance to practise your fleet racing. Our RYA qualified instructors impart their knowledge to anybody interested in attending events.

We are also trying to get a good team for yacht racing so if your experienced let us know.
